“Entre tú y yo (Between you and me) searches again for an exceptional space born from the exploration that can only take place because they are those two people and not others. Without external aesthetic relations. In search of a poetic space that can only happen because of a number of circumstances”.Amalia Fernández and Juan Domínguez
14 years ago, Amalia Fernández (Granada, 1970) and Juan Domínguez
(Valladolid, 1964), two authorities in the field of experimental dance,
joined their sensibilities in Shichimi Togarashi (2006). It was a
first meeting and and it allowed them to understand how to do something
between two people, an idea which was the basis of the creation. They
defined their meeting as an investigation into "how much there is of
proposal and how much there is of receptiveness. How much does one
understand of what the other intends to say... How much does one convince
or let themselves be convinced... How long do we wait for the times when
that which is not us, are made manifest... How much do we yet have to learn
on working positively with disagreement. Between you and me is a
review of that work, but also a reflection on what has happened to them
personally and professionally over these 14 years.
During this time, both have remained in research and in the world of performance. They have collaborated with other artists as well.
Domínguez with personalities such as Los Torreznos or La Ribot and
Fernández with creators such as Nilo Gallego or Sònia Gómez. But uniqueness
is an inherent feature of their concerns and a review could only take place
between the two of them. This idea has guided the name of the proposal: Between you and me, because both Shichimi Toragashi and
this new encounter are only possible if they occur among him, her and the
circumstances of both.
